The Fijian Under-17 team returned to camp at the Fiji Football Association headquarters in Vatuwaqa, Suva.

Assistant coach Timoci Seru said the youngsters were trying to recover quickly after the destruction caused by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

“Most of the boys are from Ba and some have been badly affected by the cyclone but they are recovering well,” Seru said.

“We’ve been offering them support and help.

“If they need to talk about anything we are here to help them not only on the field but off the field as well.

“We’re really proud of the boys and how they have managed to get back into camp and focused on their school and training shows they are maturing and moving forward.”

With the Vodafone Fijian U23 squad in camp as well, their presence has been a big boost.

“Most of the boys look up to the U23 players and want to be like them so that is a big boost for them,” he said.

“We spend time together after dinner and help build the morale and character.

“Everything is normalising and we are just glad to get back on track.”

The U17 team will be in camp for a year preparing for the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Qualifiers in February 2017.
