Combined Military Women Celebrate Day In Taveuni

Women of Nakorovou and Kanacea villages in Vuna, Taveuni yesterday beamed with smiles when they were paid a surprise visit by a group of military women to celebrate International Women’s Day.
Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) chief-of-staff, Colonel Litea Seruiratu yesterday led a delegation of female officers from the RFMF, the Australian Defence Force and the New Zealand Defence Force to celebrate the day with women at these two villages.
“There’s never been a better way to celebrate this day reaching out to women who were affected by the cyclone.
“We were honoured to be a part of the celebration,” Colonel Seruiratu said.
The group took with them aid stuff from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Australian Aid.
“No better way to celebrate International Women’s Day than to be amongst women and girls who are still recovering from the devastation of Cyclone Winston.
“Really admire their resilience and strength,” she said.
