The Fiji Police Force has warned that they would come down hard on people caught stoning Fiji Electricity Authority and Police vehicles.

This follows reports received by the force that FEA and Police vehicles had been stoned in some areas in Tailevu.

Commissioner of Police, Brigadier- General Sitiveni Qiliho said they would not take this lightly.

“We will find those people doing that and we will take them to court. They must remember that FEA is there working hard to help people who have been affected and are without electricity; we don’t need people to be venting their frustrations or taking unnecessary action by stoning the very people who are there to assist them,” Brigadier-General Qiliho said.

“I understand they may be frustrated that they haven’t had electricity but the worst they can do is slow down the process again by targeting FEA by stoning their vehicles and also the Fiji Police Force when we attend to the reports.”

National Disaster Management Office director Akapusi Tuifagalele had also raised concerns on this issue.
