Samoa Gives $100K For Relief

The Fijian Government yesterday received F$100,000 from the Samoan government to assist the Fijian Government with relief and recovery efforts in the wake of severe Tropical Cyclone Winston.
Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola received the financial assistance from Aida Savea, a University of the South Pacific Samoan student counsellor, who presented it on behalf of the government of Samoa.
The donation would be directed to the Prime Minister’s National Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund account to help those affected by the cyclone.
Minister Kubuabola asked Mrs Savea to convey his sincere appreciation to the Samoan government for their assistance and stated that such assistance would go a long way towards providing assistance to the people of Fiji.
He said the assistance from international development partners, especially their bilateral partners was overwhelming.
Minister Kubuabola also used the opportunity to convey his congratulations to Tuilaepa Lupesoliai Sailele Malielegaoi on his recent re-appointment as Prime Minister of Samoa.
