Cuvu College in Sigatoka has welcomed five students from Queen Victoria school (QVS) to their school.

And they have been accommodating them since last week.

The five QVS students had to be relocated to Cuvu College because of the extensive damage done to their school by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

QVS student Sakiusa Vunivalu said he had found the school students and teachers very welcoming.

“I feel at ease with the teachers since they are very helpful and the students are also kind and caring,”Sakiusa said.

Meanwhile college principal Navneet Mishra said, “We have warmly welcomed them to the school; it’s like a home away from home for some of them.

“We have already assisted them with the activity notes and stationery; we know it’s not easy to leave a school a student takes pride in, but this is just a short stint for most of them and we welcome them to the Cuvu College family,” Mr Mishra said. The five QVS students are in Years Nine, 10, 12 and 13.
