By yesterday over 10,000 member applications worth more than $10million have been paid out by Fiji National Provident Fund for the Tropical Cyclone Winston natural disaster assistance.

FNPF chief operating officer Jaoji Koroi said 80,000 applications have been received so far and they continue to prioritise payments to those living in worst-affected areas.

Given the high number of applications received, Mr Koroi said the fund was faced with the daunting challenge of processing the payments.

“We have diverted all our resources to this assistance and have increased our capacity to meet the demands from members,” Mr Koroi said.

He said applications from Ba, Tavua and Rakiraki have been fast-tracked to the Suva office to allow for processing and payment to members.

“We are also prioritising applications received from Koro, Levuka, Yacata, Taveuni and Vanuabalavu. We seek members’ patience and understanding on the delays that may be encountered,” he said.
