The employees of Fiji Sugar Corporation Labasa mill again donated towards the Tropical Cyclone Winston appeal yesterday.

Commissioner Northern Jovesa Vocea was at the mill to receive sacks of clothes.

Fiji Sugar Corporation Labasa mill manager Karia Christopher told Mr Vocea that the employees have always been very supportive towards their social responsibility.

“Last week the employees donated $3,072 cheque and this week we collected clothes,” Mr Christopher said.

“Recently, we have given out bags of rice to all sugarcane farmers in Labasa and one sector in particular called Buceisau returned the bags of rice saying that they donated it to help affected families.

“We are very grateful to receive support from our farmers and we welcome their support and we will collectively hand over the stocks of rice to divisional emergency operation centre.”

“Rewa Rice Limited yesterday again donated 100 bags of 50k kilograms of rice,” Mr Vocea said.

“Business organisation and Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) have been continuously pouring in donations and they arrange their own transport to deliver without seeking our transport assistance.

“On behalf of the Government I would like to thank everyone for their support in rebuilding lives of those affected by TC in Northern Division.”
