Stuck at Colonial Memorial War (CWM) Hospital for the last two weeks, Jainesh Karan hopes to go back to school soon.

The 16-year-old is originally from Dagapatu and is a Year 11 student at Rakiraki Public High School.

“I miss school so much and hope to go back to school soon,” he said.

He comes from a family of nine and they were victims of Tropical Cyclone Winston last month. He is unable to walk properly because his left leg is injured.

“Everyone in my family was injured and luckily no one died,” he said.

“While, I was trying to save my other family members a piece of timber fell on my leg,” he said.

“The next day we were taken to Rakiraki Hospital for treatment,” he said

Jainesh said he was treated and sent back home but some of their relatives from Nausori came and brought them to CWM Hospital.

He said his home was completely destroyed. Edited by Rusiate Mataika
