No Official Report On Rations Abuse: NDMO

The National Disaster Management Office has not received any reports from Police on the abuse of food rations, says director Akapusi Tuifagalele.
He said the Police and also the NDMO team on the ground have been alerted on the issue following reports that some have abused rations provided by NDMO and other donors.
It was reported that some victims of Tropical Cyclone Winston were reportedly selling or bartering surplus rations provided by the NDMO and other donors.
“We have not received anything official yet,”he said.
Mr Tuifagalele had also visited the island of Koro last Saturday and said that the disaster relief effort was progressing well.
“It will take time for Koro to recover especially with the clearing of debris and for this we will even need machines to do it.”
“Other than that, the relief and supply work by the teams has been tremendous.”
