The free Weet-Bix and milk scheme will continue despite the conditions of the schools, says  Minister for Education and Arts Mahendra Reddy.

Mr Reddy revealed this while accompanying Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop during her visit to Penang Sangam Primary School in Rakiraki on Monday.

He reassured schools which were used as evacuation centres that supplies would be sent again.

“In some of the evacuation centres, the stocks of Weet-Bix and milk were the first source of food for people in the evacuation centres,” he said.

“For the schools who have lost or the supplies of Weet-Bix and milk have been damaged, we are still organising supplies to be supplied to the military so that they can provide it to the affected schools.”
