Radisson Blu Resort Fiji been awarded with two recognitions – Responsible Business Hotel of the Year Award by Carlson Rezidor group and Silver certification by Earth Check.
The resort was presented with the Responsible Business Hotel of the Year Award at the Carlson Rezidor Asia Pacific Business Conference 2016 Awards night.
General Manager Gerard Knight said this annual event is an occasion paying tribute to the top-performing hotel teams and individuals from across the region, with over 200 delegates attending the event.
“Radisson Blu Resort Fiji is passionate about reducing their impact on the environment, aiming to minimise emissions and utilize the natural Fijian environment where possible,” he said.
He said this is one of its biggest environmental achievements was the installation in early 2015 of the South Pacific largest hotel roof-mounted solar power system.
“The resort has once again recognised for showing attributes of a business that cares for the local Fijian community as well as the environment for the second time in three years,” Mr Knight said.
This achievement was funded by Sunergise System and installed by Clay Energy which is both local suppliers.
“The system provides up to 20% of the resort’s energy required on a daily basis.
He said the Resort worked collectively with EarthCheck for tourism to gather exact figures on the effectiveness of using solar energy, showing that the Resort was able to save over 10,600 trees since adding the solar panels.
Mr Knight said the Resort continues to work towards new projects that will help reduce their Carbon footprint and deliver a better future for our precious environment.
Radisson Blu Resort Fiji takes pride in being actively involved in the Fijian community, connecting with 28 schools through the ‘Adopt a School’ programme.
“We are looking forward to expanding support of schools and the environment in 2016.”
