Textbooks Replacement
The Ministry of Education has assured it will replace lost textbooks as it starts rebuilding the education system after Cyclone Winston.
Minister Mahendra Reddy said: “We will be providing new stocks of books to the schools which have lost textbooks.
“For Koro Island, a whole lot of textbooks was sent in last week’s shipment and we are now asking schools to tell us what textbooks they have lost and the numbers as well.”
Also, teachers stationed in schools that were hit hard by the cyclone are now taking shelter under tents provided to them.
He also said: “If the schools have lost the corrugated iron roofing then we can make do with tarpaulins but if the walls are also demolished then we prefer providing tents.”
