A total of 1227 tourists yesterday visited Lautoka City after cruise ship Ms Marina docked at the Lautoka Wharf.

The Oceania-class liner brought with it tourists from the United States, Australia and Europe.

Passenger Jene Latham, (64), from Michigan, United States mentioned that she was enjoying her first trip to Fiji.

“This is the first time I am visiting Fiji and this experience of seeing the strong Fijians giving you that big bula smile welcome shows the true nature of Fijians,” Ms Latham said.

She also mentioned that despite the loss Cyclone Winston caused, Fijians continued to smile at all the tourists.

“The smiles on their faces are a sign that there are a lot of strong Fijians out here, who continue to provide the best services to all the tourists and this is the main reason why the tourism sector in Fiji is making such remarkable progress,” she said.

She also added that she loved the service provided to her during her tour to Lautoka City as this was her first visit to Fiji.

“I have fallen in love with the people here and what I enjoyed the most is shopping and the fresh fruits, vegetables and food Fiji has.

“I would definitely visit Fiji once I get back home after this voyage.”

The cruise liner had 1227 passengers.

There were 761 crew members on board with 146 being females and 615 males.
