Alliance Francaise of Suva along with the French Embassy in Fiji have started their Francophonie celebration yesterday. It will end tomorrow Saturday.

In March every year this festival is celebrated all over the world to acknowledge the French language and culture. Alliance Francaise’s main partner is the French Embassy and they are sponsored by Bred Bank, Total and Victoria Wines.

The first concert yesterday was at O’Reilly’s from 7pm – 10pm and its $30 ticket included drinks and finger foods. The funds collected will be given to Tropical Cyclone Winston’s national appeal.

The initiative is led by Victoria Wines in association with Rotary Club. For today and tomorrow the band will be performing at the Royal Suva Yacht Club at 6pm and Dog Father from 4pm to 6pm respectively and the entry is free.

Alliance Francaise has invited a French music band from Vanuatu called Groovy Banana to perform on the three days and have also organised workshops with different schools as well. Jessica Gounder
