Fijian welterweight boxing champion Junior ‘The Razor’ Farzan Ali is going to take on a former New Zealand kickboxer, Arthur Taylor under the Toe 2 Toe Promotion set for April 23 at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

This was confirmed yesterday by New Zealand National Boxing Federation board member Faiyaz Khan.

Speaking from Auckland, Khan said they have officially released Taylor to travel to Fiji with this manager Craig Thompson.

He also indicated that the Boxing Commission of Fiji through its acting president Usman Ali was helpful in the negotiation.

“The purse that was agreed on will be held in New Zealand as this was agreed by both parties,” he said.

“Upon the boxer’s return to New Zealand on April 24 and on the recommendation of BCF, the purse will be released.

“The reason for this is that in the past promoters have short paid boxers when they did not make any profits,” he said.

Khan who is also an international referee said as far as boxing is concerned this clash would be a good test for Farzan as Taylor is a good boxer.

“If Farzan goes into a brawl with him this would bring trouble. Farzan has to be smart, use good ringcraft and score points at every chance he gets. If the fight goes the distance the smarter fighter wins, boxers must realise point scoring and hitting at target spots get them to win rounds,” he added.
