The dates of the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s and the Coca-Cola Games have been confirmed.

In a press conference yesterday, Marist Rugby Club (MRC) chairman and Coca-Cola Games sponsor organizer, Lawrence Tikaram said sponsors of both events and organisers have agreed to work together to produce the best and biggest events on two consecutive weekends.

“This is a special year for us, as we pursue an Olympic gold medal,” he said.

“This is probably the last chance for any major raw talent to be exposed at both events and organisers of both events are wary of the task ahead as they want it to be as successful as ever.”

Tikaram said the MRC salutes its event directors, officials and volunteers for taking a joint stand to support these changes.

“This is what is seen as to be Fiji’s best and finest sporting events coming together over two weekends to celebrate our success and resilience as one nation. This should encourage supporters to come out in numbers to support both events.”

Tikaram added the major sponsors see this as a positive change as its continues to support the development of grass roots rugby and working hand in glove with other major sporting events to bring the very best of Fiji’s rugby players.
