PM Sogavare Visits Koro

The Prime Minister of Solomon Islands, Manasseh Sogavare, took time to visit Koro Island last Thursday to see the progress being made by Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) and Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel.
Accompanying the Prime Minister was Solomon Islands High Commissioner to Fiji, Patteson Oti, the special secretary to Solomon Islands Prime Minister, Rence Sore, Pacific Islands Forum secretary-general Dame Meg Taylor and Commander of Joint Task Force 635, Lieutenant Colonel Scott Hill.
Spending over two hours on the ground, Prime Minister Sogavare gained first-hand accounts from village leaders of the destructive power of Tropical Cyclone Winston, which struck Fiji on February 20.
Mr Sogavare also took the time to meet RFMF and ADF personnel involved in the restoration of damaged structures, and the clean-up of debris strewn across the island.
