Waisea Dauni, 50, of Delainavesi, Lami harvested his first yams for the year yesterday.

“Since it is Palm Sunday tomorrow, this is to remember all my family back in Daliconi Village, Vanuabalavu, who have been affected by the Tropical Cyclone Winston.”

“This is our first harvest and we will be sharing with my family and also to pray for those who have been affected and going through hardship.

“My wife is a school teacher at Ballentine Memorial School in Delainavesi, and I am a farmer.”

Mr Dauni is now preparing for the next season of planting at his home with his grandson, Tazmania Dauni.

“I am thankful for what God has given me and I am happy that my family back in the village harvested yams as well. Wherever we are, we always remember to give thanks to God for giving us the first harvest,” Mr Dauni said. Edited by Maraia Vula
