Fund drive supports Sea Mercy, Raise Beyond the Reef

More than $60,000 was raised during the Chef’s Table Fiji Cyclone Appeal dinner at The Rhum-Ba at Denarau last Saturday night.

Event co-ordinator Valentin Corchado said they had not finalised the exact total amount raised because of the bidding but this would be revealed in coming days.

“This fundraising supports selected non-profit organisations such as Raise Beyond the Reef and Sea Mercy (Fiji) in their bid to assist those affected by the recent cyclone,” he said.

Mr Corchado said both organisations had provided an enormous support to the community in the outer islands in providing portable water desalination units (Sea Mercy) and assisting students in interior villages (Raise Beyond the Reef).

He said there was an overwhelming support received from the respective companies, our suppliers and those who attended the fundraising dinner.

The major sponsors for the event are Victoria Wines, Fiji Chefs Association, International Hotel Supplies, MH, Staging Connections, Island Chill, Rosie Holidays, and Rhum – Ba.

The Chef’s Table Fiji is a non-profit biannual event that was conceptualised by executive chef Darren Braddock executive chef of First Landing, Beach Resort & Villas and supported by many talented executive chefs in Fiji.
