Jannif: Ba And Raiwai Campuses Reconstruction Will Take A Year

Meanwhile council chair Jannif says classes resume March 29 and students will be relocated
The reconstruction of Fiji National University (FNU) Raiwai and Ba campuses may take at least a year.
The sites took a battering when monster storm Winston ripped through the two campuses last month.
The cost to reconstruct the two campuses is around $2million.
In a statement FNU chancellor and council chair Ikbal Jannif said: “The university is looking at having these rehabilitation works carried out as soon as possible so that classes could resume at these campuses.
“Damage to the building structures and the engineering workshop in Ba Campus would cost around $750, 000.
“For the Raiwai Campus the roof blew off and the ceiling fell through and most of the equipment in the campus were damaged.
“We are not only reconstructing the campus but we will also purchase new equipment for students to use.”
FNU students studying at UniStudio in Raiwai and Ba campuses will resume their classes on March 29.
The students of Ba Campus will be relocated to the Ba Civic Centre while, students of UniStudio in Raiwai Campus will be relocated at FNU’s Nasinu and Samabula campuses.
