Ten people were arrested for drinking and driving over 24 hour, ending last Saturday night.

Police director of Traffic Senior Superintendent of Police Mahesh Mishra yesterday came down hard on drink driving offenders stating they should know better.

“Despite our awareness and warning people are still drinking and driving,” SSP Mishra said.

“Some very educated people are doing this which is a real shame.”

Those arrested were from various vocations including a teacher, a prison officer, a fireman, a businessman, a tertiary student, a technician, a security officer and a military officer.

Such arrests have come in light of continued efforts by the Fiji Police Force to stop fatalities on our roads.

So far nine people have died on our roads, compared to 12 last year.
