The Suva Football Association was happy with the outcome of the Fiji Football Association Board meeting at the Fiji FA headquarters in Vatuwaqa, Suva yesterday.

SFA president Mahendra Prasad said Fiji FA board members have been understanding of the situation faced by certain districts and this has produced a very positive outcome.

“We are happy of what has transpired in the meeting. It is very positive and the districts are really happy with that,” he said.

“I think today’s meeting was good with new things being done, especially with the introduction of the Under-17 league. I think it is time to have our competitions based on age groups.

“It’s great that Fiji FA will be funding the competition which will take a lot of stress off the districts and I think this is overall, a big achievement for football.

“This will give districts the chance to develop their own players in the early ages, which is a big plus for Suva Football.”

Fiji FA has also approved Suva’s request not to participate in the resumption of the Vodafone Premier League.

This is because the Whites need to prepare for the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League, which starts on April 9 in New Zealand.
