This week for our road test, we took the Mahindra Xylo for a spin around the city. Some might wonder what a Xylo is.

The Xylo is available in two versions from Mahindra CarCity, a subsidiary of the Tappoo Group.

The first version is the fully-loaded H-Series (H9) which is a seven-seater MPV(Multi-Purpose Vehicle). The second is a basic version D2-Series which is eight-seater.

The basic version, as the name suggests, is ideal for both commercial and personal use especially if you have a big family.

Not too flash but will do the needful.

Our road test will focus around the Xylo H-Series which is packed with features which will surely pull you towards test-driving one today.

It is the advanced new engine and first-in-class technology that sets the new H-series apart as a high-performance MPV.

The new Xylo H-series delivers all new levels of performance thanks to the high-tech mHawk engine.

Technology

The Voice Command Technology allows you to control of the vehicle with mere words. Whether you want the headlights to be turned on, give the indicator or turn on the radio, all this can be done with the voice command.

It has a 2-DIN music system with Bluetooth to sync your phone for hands-free option.

And if your leg gets tired from driving (when travelling long distance in particular), you have the Cruise Control Option which will maintain your vehicle speed.

The Digital Drive Assist System provides real time updates on the Xylo’s speed, mileage, temperature and more.

It comes equipped with Extra Stability Technology which will reduce body roll and gives a smoother ride.

Interior

The interior of the Xylo will surely entice you with genuine Italian leather interiors for an ultra-premium cabin feel.

If you feel tired and are travelling far, worry not as you can reach your destination by sleeping all the way (if you are a passenger). The Xylo has fully-reclining flat-bed seats for supreme comfort.

Not only this, but foldable snack trays for those little in-car breaks really gives you a feel that you are in an airplane.

And for those who continue working despite travelling – worry not – the vehicle has a 12V charging port for your laptop and mobile phones as well.

So you don’t have to have stopover to charge your phone or laptop.

Safety features:

The new H-series sets new standards for MPVs with its safety and security features.

It has Anti-lock Braking System for greater grip and control while braking on slippery surfaces.

The vehicle also comes equipped with Intellipark Reverse Assist for parking assistance.

This basically means not only will you hear a beep when getting close to an object whilst reversing, but you will be told of the distance you vehicle is from the object.

There are also dual airbags for driver and front passenger seat for additional protection.

Engine Immobiliser recognises fraudulent keys thus preventing any theft.

The all-new Mahindra Xylo along with other line up of Mahindra vehicles are now available in Fiji from Mahindra CarCity Showroom located at 88 Jerusalem Road, Nabua, Suva.
