Deenbandhoo Memorial School Mark Easter, Holi

Deenbhandhoo Memorial School in Toganivalu Street, Suva, celebrated Easter and Holi with students and staff at their school yesterday.
Assistant Headteacher Mosese Turagabeci while addressing the students on what Easter meant was enlightened to pass the message to the students that it was a triumph of good over evil.
“It is the first time for the school to have proper Easter celebration, just like a church service to show the students what it means and why Christians celebrate it,” Mr Turagabeci said.
“It was a great sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ, the son of the living God who gave up his life so that through his death the people are saved from the sins and temptations of this world.”
Headteacher Narendra Rao was very happy to have shared with students two different religious celebrations that have the same motive which is the triumph of ‘good over evil’.
“As a Hindu school we are celebrating Easter to bring awareness and enlighten our other cultures about the importance of Easter and children need to know the reason why Christians celebrate Easter and why Hindus are celebrating Holi,” Mr Rao said.
“We all need to learn each other’s culture, so that we have peace and harmony in our society.”
Mr Rao said celebrating these two auspicious occasions was to show the world that we are all Fijians united and standing as one people together for each other.
