Marist Brothers High School student Albert Miller will be a sensation to watch during the Coca-Cola Games next month

Yesterday the 18-year-old from Kubulau, Bua blitzed the track in the Suva Zone 2 100 metres and 200 metres senior boys final.

He stopped the clock at 11.43 seconds in the 100 metres and 22.15 seconds in the 200 metres.

Miller said winning the two events boosted his performance as an athlete.

“My performance last year did not go so well, there were a number of issues I had to work on and I can say that I have improved a lot in this year’s zone.

“I did a lot better this year, I feel a lot stronger and fitter which is a good thing because I have been wanting to improve my performance and I am happy because I did that here today (yesterday).

“Finishing is one of my weaknesses and I improved on that today (yesterday); the start and finishing are very important and I will need to perfect this before the Coke Games.”

Track and field runs in Miller’s blood. He has been running since class 4 at Veiuto Primary School. His parents are both former national athletics reps – Litiana and Albert Miller (senior).

Miller also attributes his performance to his idol, Banuve Tabakaucoro.

“I have been training a lot with Banuve and he has been helping me a lot in preparation and technique.

“The competition gets tougher each year and getting help from Banuve has boosted me a lot and that is something I need in order to make sure I perform my best at the Coke Games.”.
