Education Minister’s Visit Pleases Students

Minister for Education Mahendra Reddy’s visit to Waidalice District School in Tailevu on Tuesday brought relief to the students.
He brought to their door steps their school bags and stationery.
About 90 per cent of the students have had their school stationery destroyed by Cyclone Winston and their homes were blown away.
“I am here to give you a bag and stationery to start off with and study hard, as the Bainimarama Government will help you to achieve your dreams and plans in life,” Mr Reddy said.
Addressing the students, Mr Reddy said the Bainimarama Government had a plan for every child in Fiji. He said Government wanted all students to access quality education and it was working hard to improve school infrastructure in rural areas and remote areas so that the facilities they had were equal to those in town areas.
“Students in a remote rural set up must be given a taste of the kind of developments in all spheres that is experienced by students in urban schools,” Mr Reddy said.
Veinuqa chief, Ratu Josua Raitamata said Mr Reddy just found out last week, that the students needed their school kit and they were really relieved that the minister had come to their aid.
“We can really tell that Mr Reddy has a special place in his heart for the children of Waidalice District School,” Ratu Josua said.
He said Mr Reddy’s visit was a real blessing to the school and parents.
Ratu Josua also thanked the Government for the relief work and provisions supplied to the victims of Cyclone Winston.
