Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the death of 31-year-old Ilisoni Nate, an employee of Go Advertising.

Mr Nate died while working on a Go Advertising billboard beside the Department of Immigration in Suva yesterday.

Bystanders at the scene said Mr Nate allegedly slipped and pressed a wrong button while inside a cherry picker.

His upper body was trapped between the picker and the billboard.

He was freed about 30 minutes later by the National Fire Authority.

Police spokesperson, Inspector Josaia Weicavu said Mr Nate was rushed to hospital by Police and NFA officials but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Go Advertising Fiji director, Charles Wakeham sympathised with the family.

“I do not wish to make any comments, but all I can say is that we are very sorry for the family and it was an accident,” Mr Wakeham said.

The post mortem examination is expected to be conducted soon while investigations continue.
