It will be a do or die situation for teams in Pool B for the U17 and U19 grades in the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League Competition quarter-finals this Saturday.

U17 Nasinu Secondary School, Ratu Sukuna Memorial School and U19 Nasinu Secondary School and Lelean Memorial School in Pool A have already booked a quarter-final spot.

South East Zone Secondary School Rugby League secretary Taniela Vakamoce said it will be a tough round of competitions this weekend.

“Currently these teams are sitting on four points and so it is a do or die situation for the teams in Pool B if they want to qualify for national quarters.

“There were some major upsets last weekend and you can see that this pool isn’t easy, with teams like Marist Brothers High School and RSMS coming back, it has certainly added a twist to everything.

Vakamoce said competition is good and teams have improved a lot over the weeks.

“Each year the games get tougher and we are glad to have some new inclusions which have attracted a lot of crowds to the games.”

With the current Secondary schools rugby league title held in the West, Vakamoce said the South East schools could give the western schools a hard time retaining the title this year.

“I think with how much improvement and competition we are seeing at the games on Saturday and with how eager these schools want to win, it will be a tough game the western schools need to prepare for,” he said.

“But again, winners are determined by what happens on the day but I know it will be a spectacle for the fans.” Vakamoce has requested fans of the schools to show up in numbers to show their support.
