Fijian welterweight boxing champion Junior ‘The Razor’ Farzan Ali has indicated that he is going to do his country proud when he takes on Anthony Taylor of New Zealand on April 23 at Prince Charles Park, Nadi.

“This is going to be a big fight for me,” he said.

“It won’t be an easy one but I will do it for my country. I have been training hard but I will do most of my talking in the ring.”

The 35-year-old added that he would continue his family legacy left behind by his elder brother and former junior middleweight champion Zulfikar Joy Ali.

“I know my brother is not here anymore but I will continue the legacy he has left behind and raise my country’s flag higher. This will be an ideal opportunity for me to secure more good fights.” Farzan boasts of a proud record of 25 wins from 32 fights, 17 by knockouts, five losses and two draws.

His manager Alim Begg said they are confident of a win.

“It has been long time for Junior to fight an international boxer at home. I am 100 percent sure that this is going to be a good fight. I also know that Junior is a dedicated sports man and this will all be shown in the ring.”
