The Fiji Police Force is asking for assistance from the public to identify a man who is currently in a coma at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Suva after an accident early yesterday morning.

Police spokesperson, Inspector Josaia Weicavu said the man who is believed to be in his 30s or 40s was allegedly hit by a private car along Koronivia in Nausori.

The man was wearing a blue round neck tee- shirt and a cargo pants during the time of the accident.

Inspector Weicavu is urging members of the public who have information to come forward to assist them in identifying the man. The man also has a Centralian tattoo on his left upper arm.

Inspector Weicavu said the driver was known to Police and they were awaiting the man’s recovery so the driver could be taken in for questioning.

Celebrate Easter peacefully: Police

Members of the public have been advised to celebrate this long Easter weekend peacefully and refrain from being involved in unnecessary activities.

This follows the arrest of five Indonesian nationals and three Chinese nationals admitted to hospital after an early morning brawl at Walu Bay yesterday.

Inspector Weicavu said the brawl began when an argument broke out between the groups who are crew members of a fishing vessel.

“We are advising members of the public that if they are drunk, to only enjoy it and go about doing it peacefully. They should get away from unnecessary quarrels and not to use abusive language to others.

“The meaning of Easter is love and everyone should celebrate it in a way that means to be loving,” Inspector Weicavu said.
