Accused Ratukana Remanded For Burglary And Theft
Rusiate Ratukana, 23, of Lautoka appeared in Lautoka Magistrates Court yesterday in a special court sitting.
He is charged with counts of aggregated burglary and theft at BBQ Chicken in Lautoka.
He has been accused of stealing cash amounting to $1480 and assorted liquor worth $425.25, totalling $1880.25.
The accused was found sleeping inside the premises in a drunk state when the matter was reported to the Police Station.
In the interest of public safety, the Prosecution said Ratukana should be remanded in custody.
The prosecution also argued that the offence was serious and the likelihood of Ratukana surrendering to custody was slim.
The court ruled in favour of prosecution and Ratukana has been remanded in custody until March 29.
