The Fiji Police Force has started a search and are on the look-out for a missing mother and her two-year-old daughter, both of Qeleloa, Nadi.

Mother of three Bharti Naidu, 25, and her daughter Ishita Mudaliar, were reported missing last Thursday.

Police Inspector Josaia Weicavu confirmed that they had received a report of Ms Naidu and her daughter missing, and were doing all they can to sought information on their whereabouts.

According to Police protocol, once a missing persons report is lodged an investigation file is opened and the person or people who file the report are interviewed first. From then on the physical search begins.

Chandra Naidu, Ms Naidu’s mother, said her daughter was wearing a black top with black and white pants on Thursday.

Ms Naidu’s husband Muni Kailash Mudaliar, 28, said he last saw his wife that Thursday morning after he gave her some money.

“She said that she wanted to visit families in Nadrala in Sigatoka and that was the last I heard from them that day,” he said.

“We use to have ups and downs but then everything was okay.”

Ms Bharti’s father, Bowindra Naidu, 53, is in shock to learn of his only daughter missing.

“Her mum last spoke to her at around 2.30pm on that day but she did say she was in town, but did not mention where she was going, if she had said anything that would lead to a clue,” Mr Naidu said.

He said they lodged the report at the Nadi Police Station on the same day.

“Her family members and her other two little daughters are crying and asking for their mother and sister to return home,” he said.

Mr Naidu is calling on the public to contact them on 971-8683 or 875-9903, or contact the nearest Police station if they have information on their two family members missing.

As of March 23 Crime Stoppers had reported that three people were missing so far. They are Neeraj Nilesh Prasad, 23, of Lot 17 Vaele Rd, Caubati. He was last seen on March 7; Shazmin Shyna Bi, 18, of Vunivau, Labasa. She’s been missing since January 2 this year; and Jennifer Lavenia of Waikerekere, Lami. She was last seen on March 18 going to classes at the Fiji National university (FNU).
