Cyclone Winston Fails To Deter Wwo-Time Vodafone Trophy Champions From Playing

The devastation caused by Tropical Cyclone Winston in the West has not deterred the Ba Provincial Freebird Institute Under-19 side from defending the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League’s Vodafone Trophy.
The Institute is a two-time winner of the Vodafone Trophy. Developing officer, Lagilagi Golea said the damage caused by the cyclone has forced many schools in Rakiraki and Tavua to pull out.
“But as defending Under-19 champions the Ba Provincial Freebird Institute are doing all they can to stay on and defend the title,” he said.
Golea said the defending champions are now playing a series of games with Natabua High School as part of their build-up for the national playoffs.
“Natabua High School has got a strong team as they have the size and speed as well.”
He added that there was no competition this weekend because of Easter, but they would continue onnext weekend.
