Koroilavesau Awaits Reports

‘I’m still waiting an official report from Australian govt and the employers’ representatives
Minister for Employment, Productivity and Employment relations Semi Koroilavesau is awaiting reports reports about Fijian seasonal workers in Australia being told to return to work for the contracted employers, who they say had exploited them or leave Australia.
A report by ABC stated that the Fijians workers concerned would like to stay and find work with other employers.
Minister Koroilavesau said the Fijian Government had not received any official report from the Australian government.
An ABC investigation last month also claimed that many of the workers received little or no pay after deductions while picking fruit and vegetables for AFS Contracting, in northern Victoria.
“We have picked up a number of articles online and we have asked the Australian authorities to investigate the facts behind such claims,”Minister Koroilavesau said.
“I am not aware of such claims and we are still awaiting reports from our counterparts and we need more discussions on this; I will make a comment once I receive report from the employer’s representative,”he said.
