Members of Nasea Methodist Church marched through the streets of Labasa Town to mark the Resurrection Day of Jesus Christ yesterday.

Young and old dressed in special white attires with their bibles in hand sang an old time Gospel hymn: ‘Jesus is the winner man all the time’, as they marched through the town.

The 25-minute march began from Y-Corner and ended at their church which is beside Subrail Park.

Nasea Methodist Church’s Reverend Noa Turaganivalu said it was organised with joy to proclaim the truth that God raised Jesus from the dead.

“Resurrection Sunday is the central event in the church year, the climax of worship, expectation and celebration,” Reverend Turaganivalu said.

“Jesus Christ died, was buried, and rose onthe third day.

“The resurrection was not a dawning awareness of Christ’s continuing presence among the disciples; it was the literal and physical raising of Jesus’ body from the dead,” he said.

“The church is founded upon the resurrected Lord, who appeared among His disciples and was seen by hundreds of others.

“The physical resurrection of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of redemption both for mankind and for the world.

“By observing the resurrected Jesus, we learn not only about the resurrected body but also about resurrected relationships,” he said.
