Wailoaloa-Enamanu Road To Open InTwo Weeks

The new one-kilometre road from Wailoaloa towards Enamanu in Nadi is expected to open to the public in two weeks.

Only two kilometres of the three-kilometre road is already opened to the public, says Fiji Roads Authority programme manager for the Nadi and Suva Road Upgrade Project (NASRUP), Zaina Khan.

She said that portion of the road had to fully meet some technical safety audit requirements.

“That portion has been closed from the junction of the Queens Road because we have the full lane coming up to join that,” Ms Khan said.

“Different levels of safety including line painting and signage are done to reflect what we have now until the project meets the junctions.”

She said that there would be a final inspection after the Easter weekend.

“We hope to open that connection to the public in two week’s time once we get everything ship-shape. Generally we would like the public to consider that this is their new road and it’s new to the community and drivers need to be more vigilant.”

She said the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama was earmarked to officially open this portion of the road in a month or so.
