Officer Held in Drug Bust

A Police constable from the K-9 unit is in custody after drugs were allegedly found in his home at Tacirua.
Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho confirmed that following a tip-off, Divisional Police Commander Southern Biu Matavou organised a team to raid the home of the constable who is a member of the K-9 unit, the Fiji Police Dog Unit.
Thirty-eight sachets and nine rolls of dried branches of about 30 centimetres long were found in the home of the Police constable.
“A raid was conducted and dried leaves believed to be marijuana was found in the home of this Police constable,” Brigadier-General Qiliho said.
“I want to take this opportunity to issue a warning to the officers that such acts will not be condoned. If they break the law, they will face the full brunt of the law.
“I also want the general public to come forth and provide information about any Police officers engaged in wrongdoing.
“I assure them that action will be taken against Police officers who are break the law.
“The officer was arrested and taken to the Valelevu Police Station and the dried leaves found have been sent to Koronivia Research Station for testing.”
