The Fiji Electricity Authority wishes to clarify that Viseisei Sai Health Centre’s power supply was restored on March 7 following nationwide power cuts during Cyclone Winston on February 20.

This follows a report in another newspaper.

FEA chief executive, Hasmukh Patel in a statement said: “Following Tropical Cyclone Winston the power lines surrounding VSHC were inspected, necessary repairs undertaken and the transformer supplying to the VSHC was energised on March 4.

“Supply to the VSHC was restored on March 7 following repairs to the customer’s service mains which had been disconnected at the customer end via open jumper, and at the FEA end via pole fuse.

“We tried to contact Dr Rajat Gyaneshwar at the VSHC but were told that he is away overseas since Friday 25th March, 2016.

“We have spoken to Dr Swaran Naidu who is also based at the Viseisei Sai Health Centre and she has confirmed that, ‘they have no issues with the FEA power supply are grateful that power supply was restored to the health facility’.”
