Aggravated Robbery Up 22%

The number of aggravated robberies increased by 22 per cent, Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho quoting stats from the Police Force Crime Statistics Annual Report 2015.
According to the report 2015 recorded a total of 363 aggravated robbery cases compared to 296 cases in 2014.
Aggravated robbery is an offence under the Offences against Property category.
The report showed that the four months of March, May, October and December recorded the highest number aggravated robbery cases.
Brigadier-General Qiliho said that this was one of the serious offences which recorded an increase in 2015.
“Covert measures have been put in place on the monitoring of hardened criminals who are out there and new players that are appearing on the scene,” he said.
“We cannot do it alone we are pleading with the community to report to us we are trying to gain their confidence when they report to us so we can act accordingly.”
Brigadier-General Qiliho is also pleading with the public to assist police by reporting any information to assist them in their investigations.
