Development work lifts volleyball standard

The 2016 Crest Chicken Easter Volleyball National Championship ended on a high note, says a senior official.

Speaking to SUNsports, championship director Jone Baleilomaloma said the competition had been very competitive during the three days.

“I think everyone looked forward to the competition and it was really good to see the level of competition moving up another notch,” Baleilomaloma said.

“We had teams coming right from Vatukoula which was good because the teams from the West bring their own style of play which makes things exciting and also more interesting as well.”

He indicated that another important aspect observed from the championship is the development of the sport.

“We have unbelievable talents out there and what a way to showcase that and build-up it up through this championship. With lots of teams showing interest to play in this championship is indeed great and that is why we had to include a new format to cater for all of them. We can only hope that that for next year it’s going to get more bigger and better,” Baleilomaloma added.

The winners of the tournament were given phones from Vodafone Fiji and sports equipment from Sports World.
