PM Lauds Students’ Winston Relief Help

The Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, has commended students for contributing towards Government’s relief and recovery efforts.
The PM yesterday received a cash donation of $93,513 from the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts that will be used for the many victims directly affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston.
In receiving the donation from the Minister for Education, Mahendra Reddy, the PM said it was commendable that students had pitched in to help Government in the rehabilitation works across the country.
Mr Reddy said the donation was collected by students in schools from Suva, Navua and the Western Division who were not affected by Cyclone Winston.
“The amount raised is huge and it shows the level of commitment showen by each individual who are willing to assist in the mobilisation of our country as a whole,” Mr Reddy said. “Some schools had mufti; teachers also encouraged students to contribute which led to parents also assisting and our staff have been very supportive in assuring that our children are back in school.”
He said classes have now normalised in most of the areas devastated by TC Winston.
