Seruiratu Meets Indonesian Minister

The Co-ordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Luhut Pandjaitan, yesterday paid a courtesy visit to the Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and National Disaster Management, Inia Seruiratu.
The meeting saw Mr Seruiratu update Mr Pandjaitan on the activities carried out by the Fijian Government in terms of recovery and rehabilitation in the wake of the devastation caused by Tropical Cyclone Winston.
In response, Mr Pandjaitan commended the swift actions of the Fijian Government in the restoration of essential services which has brought some normalcy to those people affected by TC Winston.
Mr Pandjaitan reiterated Indonesia’s commitment in supporting the Fijian Government recovery efforts. With an initial pledge of US$5m (FJ$10.38m), the Indonesian Government is also looking at assisting the Fijian agriculture sector and expressed its interest to rebuild Queen Victoria School.
Discussions regarding enhancing co-operation between the two countries were discussed as well.
The meeting was attended by seniors officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and National Disaster Management.
Mr Pandjaitan arrived into the country on Wednesday and met with Prime Minister Bainimarama yesterday.
