Fiji Roads Authority Acting Chief Executive Rory Garland said Fulton Hogan Hiways Labasa pothole crew is currently working on Nasekula Road from yesterday morning.

He said they are doing pothole repairs from Delailabasa Intersection towards town centre at Korotari Intersection Y corner.

“They will also cover the side roads before they move in to Labasa Main Street later in the day once traffic volume reduces during hours in the morning and afternoon.”

This comes after complaints from daily travellers of the potholes witnessed toward Labasa town and road suburbs roads as well.

FRA’s Maintenance Works Manager Aram Goes said Savusavu town streetlights in the North were worst affected after Tropical Cyclone Winston.

“We have teams working seven days a week to restore the lighting as quickly as possible, this has not been without its challenges though as large numbers of new fittings had to be procured overseas and freighted in,” Mr Goes said.

The level of damage is resulting in some delays in completing repairs and replacements.

“We are requesting members of the public to remain patient.

Meanwhile, teams from the greater Suva area have deployed to the Western and Northern divisions to augment the existing teams to expedite repairs in some of the hardest hit areas.
