Development is one of the main areas that Rewa Rugby Union hopes to achieve from their 10s tournament that was played at Burebasaga District School ground yesterday.

Rewa rugby coach Peni Kurusiga said they have been in the B Division since 2012 and have since tried to work their way up to the major union.

“Our aim is to get out of the B Division and it has been a real challenge for us since we got demoted in 2012,” the former Burebasage winger said.

“We have been reaching the B division finals in the past years so we really want to actually win this year.”

With the focus to develop the current players in the squad, Kurusiga says, the aim to top the B Division is what is driving their development work.

“Development is something every team strives for no matter what competition it is and that is the same for us. We cannot go into any competition just for the sake of it. We go in because we want to improve from last year. That is where development comes in, when we drive the players to give their best and achieve goals that are set for the team.”

Meanwhile, Kabuleka won the Rewa 10s tournament beating Tacilevu 8-0 in the finals.
