Xavier College retained the boys and girls title at the Ba Secondary Schools Athletics zone meet yesterday.

In the boys division, Xavier College took top honours with 30 gold medals, 20 silver and 7 bronze while Kamil Muslim College came second with 7 gold medals, 12 silver and 15 bronze.

A.D Patel College was in third place with 5 gold medals, 8 silver and 7 bronze.

In the girls division Xavier College girls dominated with 20 gold medals, 12 silver and 13 bronze.

A.D Patel College settled for second spot with 9 gold medals, 15 silver and 7 bronze while in third place was Khalsa College with 5 gold medals, 4 silver and 3 bronze.

Jovilisi Muloca of Xavier College got the Best Male Athlete award after he bagged three gold medals in the junior boys 100m, 200m and 4×100 relay.

He also broke a three-year record in the 200m with a time of 22.89s.

The record was previously held by Adarsh Dutt of A.D Patel College with the time of 22.98.

A total of 11 records were broken at the two-day event.

Fiji Secondary Schools Athletic Association vice-president Jone Malimali said the western zone athletes would give a good competition to the Eastern and Northern teams come the Coca- Cola Games.
