Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho praised the owner of Nadi’s new Motorex Complex for his vision of investing in Fiji.

He said this during the official opening of the double- storey complex at Navo Road on Saturday night.

“With this sort of investment it will reduce unemployment and will decrease crime,” Brigadier-General Qiliho said.

Example

“This is a good example with Mr Basant (Basant Raj Banfal) opening his complex here in Fiji.

“He was involved in the automotive industry during his time in New Zealand. Here he has invested in real estate, also back into the Automotive Industry similar to what he has been doing in New Zealand.”

Mr Banfal said the complex building was worth close to $2 million.

“To give something back to the people of Fiji and create a lot of employment opportunities,” Mr Banfal said.

“In my experience I want to give back to Fiji, in terms of giving some modern equipment and technology.

“It was a very hard job for me, it took nearly a year with lots of Red Tapes here and there, but being an investor I was very much determined to come into Fiji and do a development.

“Personally, I am happy as this is something that’s going to be beneficial for Fiji.

“This was a swampy place and it had to take a lot of courage to have this building constructed here”.

Features

The downstairs part of the complex will host a car showroom; other spaces in the complex will be used as retail, restaurant and offices.

“This building actually cost close to $2 million but I am happy because I have received great feedbacks from the general public.

“The rent is going to be affordable to allow other people to run their business.”

Future Projects

Mr Banfal stated that he has other projects coming up which are included in his fi ve-year plan.
