A family at Waidranudranu Settlement, Tavakubu in Lautoka are mourning the loss of their daughter, Roselin Dutt, who died on Saturday afternoon.

The 35-year-old housewife allegedly set herself alight following an argument with her husband.

Police spokesperson Inspector Josaia Weicavu confirmed the incident.

“She died instantly of severe burns,” he said.

Her sister-in-law Ashwine Lata said: “My sister-in-law had two children who are with the husband. And she has been living with us for the last three weeks because they had a lot of family problems.

“She was a very kind lady and even though she had family issues her children was the most important thing in her life.”

Inspector Weicavu said family members should try to solve their family issues amicably and seek assistance from relatives, social groups, religious leaders, counsellors, NGO’s, social welfare, Police and other relevant authorities

“Taking your life is not the solution to your problems. Always remember your loved ones especially your children who are under your care.”

The post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted tomorrow. Litia Tikomailepanoni
