Head of the Catholic Church in Fiji, Archbishop Peter Loy Chong emphasised on the importance of showcasing the spiritual and corporal works of mercy.

This is in conjunction with the commemoration of Divine Mercy Sunday for Catholics around the world.

Yesterday, Catholics in Suva ended the congress with a procession from Marist Brothers High School to the Vodafone Arena for the Eucharistic celebration.

Catholic Church member Filomena Tagiveitaua said: “We are living in the last days where sin has been multiplied which means only God’s mercy has kept us through.

“With this in mind, we as Christians need to show God’s mercy in our actions through sharing and assisting people who are in need,”she said.

Divine Mercy Sunday is the second Sunday after Easter. As the Church continues the celebration of the Risen Lord at Easter, special celebration of God’s divine mercy is usually done on Divine Mercy Sunday.
