The Vodafone Fijian 7s team cannot afford to drop their guard in any of their pool matches in this weekend’s Hong Kong 7s tournament. That was the gist of Vodafone Fijian 7s head coach Ben Ryan’s message before the side left for Hong Kong on Saturday.

Ryan did not hide his concerns when he pointed out that he is worried of Canada who they first meet early Saturday morning.

“I think Canada will be looking for blood against us,” Ryan said.

“I’m expecting a very tight game on Friday night against Canada because they had some good results in the last tournament we played in. They could cause an upset if we’re not completely on our game.”

He also indicated the pool’s second seed Wales will be no pushover as well.

“They are well-coached and I expect a tough first two games and I think it’s going to be difficult.”

Meanwhile, Canada travel to Hong Kong on a high after winning well to take the Bowl in their home Vancouver tournament.

Canadian coach Liam Middleton said he is really feel confident in this group and where they’re heading as a team.

“We’re making slow progress but we know we’re building physically, technically as well as tactically and we know we’ll hit our straps at the right time,” added Middleton.

The Vodafone Fijians are the top seed of Pool D where they face Wales, Canada and Korea.
