Interest is high in the Fiji Institute of Accountants (FIA) annual congress. This will be held on April 21-22 at Sheraton Fiji on Denarau Island.

The congress is expected to attract over 400 participants including many top local private and public sector decision makers.

Fiji Institute of Accountants President, Nouzab Fareed said: “All residential delegates have been sold out but there is still an opportunity for day delegates.

“We do have a senior government minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum delivering the keynote and for the first time, we have almost all international speakers and four of them are leading female speakers,” he said.

The congress, brings together accountants and other business leaders from across the country.

It will be held for two working days, having several addresses by prominent financial keynote speakers.

Some topics to be addressed are the future investments and investment potential in Fiji, growth and risk, growing industries and sectors, and Fiji’s position in the world of finances.

Some speakers who will provide the congress with an insightful knowledge of the specialised accounting realm include Managing Director/CEO of Fiji Airways Andre Viljoen and senior management of both local and international firms.

“We are providing much more than just business related topics,” Mr Fareed said.

“From social challenges, fraud minimisation to making a nice tourist destination and having social debates,” Mr Fareed said.

“The overall challenge is getting right speakers on the given date. But FIA has managed to do it

“Through the congress, FIA wants to share with the audience our professional commitment to the public general.

“We are looking forward to keep them updated about what’s happening in the today’s world and lessons for Fiji.

“This congress has more business people than accountants.

“The Institute’s main aim is to lift the quality of the conference and setting a new benchmark.

“Fiji Institute of Accountants would like to thank first time sponsors like McDonald’s, RC Manubhai, Fiji Airways as well as our major sponsors Westpac and Vodafone Fiji.”
